Take Action to Support the Healthy Idaho Plan
Gov. Otter kicked off the 2016 Legislative Session yesterday with his State of the State address. Along with last week’s unveiling of his Primary Care Access Program (PCAP) proposal, Gov. Otter’s statements reflect a desire to make healthcare more accessible and affordable in Idaho. We are grateful that Gov. Otter and legislative leadership are acknowledging the coverage gap issue, but the PCAP doesn’t go far enough… It is only a partial solution.
Close the Gap’s goal has always been to secure complete healthcare coverage for the 78,000 Idahoans in the gap, and because of this, we are asking our networks to reach out to Idaho legislators and ask for implementation of the Healthy Idaho Plan and the additional healthcare services it provides. Please email the below legislative leaders this week and ask them to make passing the Healthy Idaho Plan a top priority during the 2016 Legislative Session.
- Senate President Pro Tempore, Brent Hill
- Speaker of the House, Scott Bedke
- Senate Health & Welfare Committee Chair, Lee Heider
- House Health & Welfare Committee Chair, Fred Wood
In your messages, please note that the Healthy Idaho Plan is the only proposed Idaho solution that would provide individuals in the coverage gap with comprehensive health coverage. Remember, passing the Healthy Idaho Plan will:
- Provide comprehensive health coverage to the 78,000 Idahoans living in the gap.
- Close the coverage gap and prevent hundreds of deaths in Idaho and alleviate pain and suffering for thousands of families living without health insurance.
- Support Idahoans who are working hard to build a future for their families.
Save the state millions in local tax dollars and make our health care system more efficient and cost-effective.
